What's New in Smile Checks: Everything We've Shipped Since Launch
Since releasing Smile Checks v2, we've been heads-down building — hardening workflows, fixing edge cases, and rolling out features that make the verification process smoother for your team and your candidates. Here's a full rundown of everything we've shipped.Add More References When You Need ThemOne of the most-requested improvements is now live: you can add references beyond the initial three submitted by an applicant. Previously, if a reference was unresponsive, declined, or returned an inconclusive result, your only option was to start over. Now, Owners, Admins, and Managers can add additional references directly from the check request page — choosing the reference type (Professional, Character, or HR), entering the referee's details, and letting the system handle the rest. Each additional reference costs 1 credit, deducted automatically from your balance. You can also edit or delete references you've added if something needs correcting. Three references don't always tell the full story. This change means you can keep moving forward without creating a new request or asking the applicant to resubmit.Reopen Closed or Cancelled ChecksMistakes happen. A check gets closed too early, or a candidate re-engages after cancellation. You no longer need to create a brand-new request from scratch. Checks that haven't been fully completed can now be reopened. The original request is restored with a fresh 10-day deadline, inactive references are reactivated, and the appropriate credits are re-deducted automatically. Everything picks up right where it left off.Clearer, More Actionable ID Verification FeedbackWhen an applicant's ID verification fails, they used to see a generic "Verification Failed" message — frustrating and unhelpful. Now they get a precise breakdown of exactly what went wrong: a name mismatch, an expired document, missing birth date or address, or image quality issues like blur or glare.Clear failure reasons translate directly to higher completion rates. When applicants know exactly what to fix, they retry — instead of abandoning the process. We also added a photo upload fallback for applicants whose device camera isn't cooperating. The live camera remains the default (and preferred) path for security, but applicants on older devices or with restrictive browser permissions are no longer left stuck.Smarter Email DeliverabilityThe platform now tracks whether candidate and reference email addresses are actually deliverable. Hard and soft bounces are detected automatically, those addresses are flagged as undeliverable, and the system stops retrying sends to them — falling back to SMS where available.Alongside this, User Management now lets Owners and Administrators revoke pending invitations and re-invite users without waiting for an old invite to expire. Emails sent to candidates and references also now include the Check Request ID or Reference ID in the recipient name field, making it much easier to trace which check a message belongs to.Process Type Classification FixedWhen a check request contains a mix of Manual and Automated checks, it's now correctly classified as Manual rathe

Automated Employment Verification: Smile Checks v2
- If you’re in HR, you know the "black hole" of recruitment: that awkward silence between a candidate saying "yes" and their first day on the job. You’ve done the interviews, you’ve found the talent, and then… you wait. Automated employment verification is the only way to close that gap and keep your hiring pipeline moving. At Smile Checks, we’ve already helped thousands of recruiters skip the manual phone calls and paperwork by pulling instant, verified data from government and payroll systems. But "fast" wasn’t enough for us. We wanted to make the process collaborative, scalable, and secure. That’s why we’re launching Smile Checks v2. It’s the same automated engine you trust, but with a brand-new high-performance chassis. Beyond the Basics: What’s Actually Changing? - We didn't just move some buttons around. We rebuilt the experience based on how high-volume recruitment teams actually work. 1. Centralized Security (No More Email Hunting) The days of digging through your inbox to find a PDF report from three weeks ago are over. In version 2, every background check report is hosted inside the portal. They are password-protected, real-time, and organized. You get a secure link, log in, and the data is right there. It’s better for your sanity and much better for Data Privacy Act compliance.2. Mass Hiring, Handled If you’re at a BPO or a scaling startup, requesting checks one-by-one is a bottleneck. Our new 'Import CSV' feature allows you to trigger up to 500 background checks in a single upload. Whether you’re hiring a team of 5 or a batch of 500, the effort on your end remains the same: one click.3. A Dashboard That Actually Reports Your new dashboard is a command center. It doesn't just show you how many credits you have left; it tracks recent candidate activity and sends smart reminders. If a report is ready for review, you’ll know the second you log in.4. Permission-Based Collaboration Hiring is rarely a solo job. With version 2, you can stop sharing a single login. Add your team and assign roles—Admin, Manager, or Verifier. You control who sees what, ensuring your recruitment workflow stays organized as your team grows.See the Future of Verification on May 20 We want to make sure you hit the ground running when we go live on the 25th. Join our product team on May 20, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, for a live walkthrough of the new features. We’ll show you how to set up your team roles, how to use the mass upload feature, and we’ll be giving away exclusive attendee-only perks that you won't want to miss!Click here to register for the Smile Checks v2 Webinar

Smile Checks New Features 2025: Advanced Verification Tools
Smile Checks new features for 2025 represent the most significant platform upgrade in our history. If you're an HR manager at a BPO company, leading a talent acquisition team, or running a recruitment agency in the Philippines, this comprehensive guide walks you through every enhancement designed to make your background screening faster, more secure, and remarkably more efficient.Over the past year, we've listened to your feedback and invested heavily in technology that addresses your biggest hiring challenges: fraud prevention, manual follow-ups, incomplete verifications, and time-consuming reference checks. The result? A completely reimagined verification ecosystem with 15+ major feature releases. - Advanced Identity Verification: Biometric Security Meets Compliance One of the most impactful Smile Checks new features is our comprehensive Biometric Identity Verification system. This multi-layer authentication process ensures the person applying is exactly who they claim to be. How It Works: Government ID Upload: Candidates securely submit their valid Philippine government-issued identification Face Match Technology: Our AI-powered system compares the ID photo with a live selfie Liveness Detection: Advanced algorithms verify the selfie is from a real person, not a photo or video Instant Verification: Results are delivered within seconds, not days This feature is particularly valuable for remote hiring scenarios where you never meet candidates face-to-face. Financial services companies, healthcare organizations, and high-security BPO accounts have already implemented this as a mandatory first-stage screening tool. - Global Sanctions & PEP Screening Complement your identity checks with our new Global Sanctions and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) Screening. This automated check scans international databases to identify candidates who may pose regulatory, financial, or reputational risks to your organization. Use cases include: Financial institutions required to comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations International BPO companies serving clients in regulated industries Organizations with strict corporate governance standards Voice Biomarker Analysis: The Science of Speech Perhaps the most innovative addition to our Smile Checks new features lineup is Voice Biomarker Analysis—a cutting-edge assessment tool that analyzes speech patterns to provide insights into a candidate's professional capabilities and behavioral tendencies. Unlike traditional personality tests that can be gamed, voice biomarkers measure unconscious vocal characteristics including tone, pace, energy levels, and speech patterns. The system generates data-driven insights about: Communication style and clarity Stress response patterns Confidence and assertiveness levels Potential strengths in customer-facing roles This technology is particularly valuable for call center hiring, where voice quality and communication skill
